The Greenlight toolkit helps parents focus on the key things they can do to keep their child growing healthy and strong.

Toolkit components are designed to help providers communicate in clear, targeted ways.
The Greenlight booklets, tangible tools, and other Greenlight materials, like our color-coded growth charts, are used by providers as part of counseling to help parents better understand important health information. The Greenlight HELP activity is a new addition that helps to further reinforce Greenlight messages.

The Greenlight Booklets
These age- and topic-specific booklets, written at a 6th grade reading level, are a key component of the Greenlight program. The booklets were designed to be used by doctors as part of the well-child check-up. Booklets are then given to parents to take home and share with other caregivers. Parents can also look at booklets on-line. Booklets are available in English, Spanish and Chinese.

Tangible Tools
Tangible “tools” are takeaways given to families by their healthcare provider. They were carefully chosen by a team of experts to further reinforce key Greenlight concepts.

Other Plain Language
Materials
Easy-to-understand written materials, such as the color-coded growth chart, are used by providers as part of counseling to help parents better understand important health information.

Greenlight HELP Activity
In clinic waiting rooms, HELP Educators explore the 3 main messages in each Greenlight Booklet, using an interactive, parent-directed curriculum. As in all HELP Initiatives, the new HELP activity is designed as a waiting room intervention and uses a flexible, “layered” approach. Each section provides useful information even if the parent is unable to complete the entire activity. This flexibility is well suited to the unpredictable length of time a family spends waiting to see their doctor. Parents can also access the Greenlight HELP materials online.
